Low-Carb Bacon Burgers for The Vince Gironda Steak and Eggs Diet

The Vince Gironda steak and eggs diet is one of the most effective eating plans for building muscle and burning fat.

It’s especially well-suited for beginners because the high fat content keeps you from getting hungry and having to cheat.

BUT it’s usually boring and monotone.  The endless parade of beef and / or eggs cooked in butter and served with salt and pepper makes it difficult to adhere to for an extended period of time . . .

So, when my girlfriend (who loves to cook) went on this diet with me, she immediately started experimenting with various recipes and ingredients that could make this style of eating more fun without violating the low-carb rule.


Submitted for your approval — The Low-Carb Bacon Burger for The Vince Gironda Steak and Eggs Diet


200g chopped beef (I use 90% lean)
approx. 1 teaspoon chopped RED onions (red onions have fewer carbs than regular onions)
a couple slices of precooked bacon
sodium-free steak seasoning of choice (I use Montreal Steak Seasoning)


Macronutrient Profile:
A burger will have the following macros from the 200g of beef
50g protein – 0g carbohydrate – 28g fat – 551 calories

A small amount of additional fat will come from the bacon and there will be no more than 1-2g of carbs from the red onion.


Chop a couple slices of red onion and PRECOOKED bacon, then mix them together in a bowl.

Take 200g of chopped beef, flatten it into a burger and put some seasoning and approx. one tablespoon of the red onion – bacon mixture into the center of the raw burger.

Fold the raw burger over so that the red onion, bacon and seasoning is in the center, then continue to knead the uncooked burger until the seasoning and condiments are well-distributed throughout the meat.

Sprinkle a small amount of the non-sodium steak seasoning on both sides of the burger and place it on a pre-heated frying pan or griddle.

Cook the burger for a few minutes on each side until it’s done to your preference (I prefer when the burgers are a little pink or red in the middle).

Serve on a plate and eat with a fork and knife.  DON’T ADD KETCHUP OR (GOD FORBID!) BREAD!!
